Using a Tape Drive is another removable media option for Back-up. It is as good as it gets. They can handle lots of data and someone can take it off-site in case the building burns down. Although ther are internal and external models, the strategies are the same: One tape, multiple revolving tapes, and grandfather/father/son arrangements.
The danger is Tapes are susceptible to magnetic fields such as from x-ray machines and audio speakers in cars, etc, which can damage data or even the tape itself. If certain native "housekeeping" information is erased or damaged, the tape may be worthless!
Make sure that you have a copy of the data on your hard drive, though. The whole idea behind backup is having more than one copy!
