Using an existing LAN for Back-up is the best method for the average office user. It is assuming that the network also has a back-up system. LANs have a virtually unlimited data. However, a LAN must also have a back-up system with removable media so someone can take it off-site in case the building burns down.
Make sure that you have a copy of the data on your hard drive, though. The whole idea behind backup is having more than one copy!
