Using a Floppy Disk as Back-up media is a fine idea where the floppy is passed to and from a client. They were desgned for this use and have done it well for years! The danger is that they are susceptible to magnetic fields such as from x-ray machines and audio speakers in cars, etc, which can damage data.
Make sure that you have a copy of the data on your hard drive, though. The whole idea behind backup is having more than one copy!
