Using an External Hard Drive is another removable media option for Back-up. It is just short of a network or tape back-up system. They can handle lots of data and someone can take it off-site in case the building burns down. There are several different models that use UBS and FireWire, primarily. They are relatively immune to magnetic fields such as from x-ray machines and audio speakers in cars, etc, but dropping them can be a BIG problem!
Make sure that you have a copy of the data on your hard drive, though. The whole idea behind backup is having more than one copy!
